Barbara “Mimi” ( Botz) Barthel, age 87, of Twin Lake and formerly of Wausau, passed away peacefully at home under the gentle care of hospice, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mom will always be remembered in many ways— a source of comfort, strength, and unconditional love. She lived her life well. She always enjoyed giving to others. She had great wisdom that touched everyone who knew her. She was always a warm and welcoming place where stories were shared, food was cooked, and laughter echoed. You never left being hungry.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Johnson and Jodi (Dan) Hansen; her grandchildren Jennifer-Jenners (Justin) Adler, Kristopher-Krissy (Christiana) Schaefer, Stephannie (Stinker Bell) (Gregg) Hess, Madison (Madico) (Bryce) Jaglinski, Dayton Hansen (Honey Boy)and Lexi Hansen (Babygirl) and her great-grandchildren Lanie (Rags) Schaefer, Kaelyn (Monkey) Schaefer, Aaliyah (Leah) Hess, Kinsley (Pebbles) Hess, and Baby Hess. She also leaves behind her dear sisters, Roseann Bright, Marge Vachy, Marlene Witte, and Aleta Adams.
Mom was preceded in death by her loving parents, Joseph and Margaret Vachy, and her sister, Geraldine Schroepfer.
Our family would especially like to thank Jen and Lane, making sure she was surrounded by peace, dignity, and the deep comfort of family in her final days.
Mimi’s legacy lives on in all of us — in every story told, every recipe passed down, and every moment we show up for each other with love. Her spirit will never leave us, and we are forever grateful for the gift of being hers.
