Carolyn H. Radunz, age 91, of Wausau, passed into the waiting arms of her Savior on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Carolyn was born on July 4, 1932, in Mattoon, WI, the daughter of Lawrence and Magdalena (Waidelich) Jahnke. She was a graduate of Mattoon High School, class of 1950.
On January 31, 1953, she was united in marriage to Elroy Radunz at St John's Lutheran Church in the village of Mattoon, WI. Elroy and Carolyn enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his passing on September 11, 2002.
She was a stay-at-home mother until her two sons were in school at which time she started her career in retail sales. She was employed at Pah-Low's gifts, Johnson Hills and Younkers department stores, all located in Wausau. Her many passions included taking care of her family, tending her flower gardens, sewing, genealogy, and reading.
Carolyn is survived by her two sons: Gary (Vicky) and Jeffrey, both of Wausau. Granddaughter- Kelli (Jerry) Pavelski, and their children Leah, Mark, Nolan, and Oliver (Stevens Point), Grandson- Matthew (Kate) Radunz (Wausau). She is also survived by her sister Reynotta Hoberecht (California) and 2 sisters-in-law; Sandra Radunz (Wausau), Arletta Jahnke (Pelican Lake), as well as many nieces, nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Hannah; four brothers, Arthur, Donald, Aaron, and James; five sisters, Eleanor Olson, Lorraine Gutt, RoseMarie Wimmer, Dorothea Grosinske and Lucille Wirrer; infant sister - Mary Ann; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews.
Carolyn's family would like to thank the staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital for the compassionate care given to our mother during her final hours. A special thank-you goes to Jessica, her weekly caregiver, who took care of our “Mom” during the last 2 ½ years.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 13th, at Zion Lutheran Church - 709 N. 6th Street, Wausau, WI. Visitation is from 10am until time of service at 11am.
Interment at Pinegrove Cemetery will take place at a later date.
