Kate was a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family, and was affectionately known to many more as "Grams". She had such a giving heart, sharing it freely with everyone she met, and lending an ear and help to anyone in need. Besides spending time with family & friends, other favorite times included crossword & jigsaw puzzles, making countless pounds of her famous potato salad, traveling, and cheering on the Green Bay Packers. Kate was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, baking cookies & bars, teaching Sunday school, and serving on the altar guild. Kate is survived by her husband Burl and her five children, Mark (Laura), Mitchell (Lori), Matthew, Michael "Otto" (Tammy), and Marsha (Craig), all of Wausau; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers Richard and John Jacobson, and sisters Alice Johnson, Eunice Pelletier, and Dorothy Oldenburg. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at St. John the Baptist Episcopal Church, 330 McClellan St., Wausau, including committal in the courtyard columbarium at St. John's, with Fr. David Klutterman officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 pm until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name may be directed to St. John's Episcopal Church.
