David W. Swenson, 87, of Wausau, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born In Wausau on October 31, 1929 to the late Carroll and Beulah (Jordahl) Swenson. He joined the Air Force in 1950 serving in Korea in the Weather Service. He married Anne Gooding who preceded him in death in 1977. David worked as a salesman for Edward Hines Lumber Company. He had a passion for sailing - finding joy in taking friends and family to Lake Superior's Apostle Islands. He enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Lost Lake, was a barbecuer extraordinaire, and a gadget guy who loved to engineer new projects. David is survived by his daughters, Susan (Darrell Piontek) Swenson of Hedgesville, WV; Andrea (Ron) Forrest of Davis, CA; his partner of 36 years, Mary Ann Dykes, Wausau; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; his sister, Jean (Ronald) Erickson of Wausau; two nephews and one niece. A memorial service will take place on Friday, September 1 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 903 3rd Street, Wausau. The Rev. Jayneann McIntosh will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Wausau.
