Don David Krumm, age 83, of Schofield WI passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Brainard Funeral Home (522 Adams Street Wausau, WI 54403). Pastor Jeff Mahnke will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the start of the service at Brainard Funeral Home.
Don was born in Wolf Point, Montana, on August 13, 1940 to John Krumm and Avis Bower and moved to Argonne, WI near the Krumm family homestead as an infant. Don attended and graduated from Crandon High School in 1958 where he participated in football and basketball. Following high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force in 1959 where he served as an aircraft mechanic jet fighter. Upon his discharge, he moved to the Wausau area in 1963 where he resided until the time of his death. Don married Carol Ann Kallenbach on July 17, 1982 in Medford, WI. They shared 42 years together enjoying sporting events, golf, fishing and traveling while spending time with family and friends
Don held various jobs as a welder/laborer in the Wausau area with a final job as a maintenance tech at Colonial Manor until his retirement in 2004. He was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life and loved all sports, especially hockey and baseball. Don loved to tell stories about his time in the service, his slow pitch softball days, the 30 point buck and the fish that got away, as well as his treasured time coaching his son in youth hockey.
Don is survived by his wife Carol Krumm of Schofield, his three children, Debra Sue Hughes, Appleton, WI, Karla (Adam) Kerry, Appleton, WI, and Guy (Cheryl) Krumm, Weston, WI and five grandchildren, Sam (Kendra) Telin, Brighton (Austin) Reed, Chloe Coenen all of Appleton,WI, Forrest (Jenna) Krumm of Bailey, NC, and Gabriel Krumm Weston, WI.
Further survived by brothers and sisters-in-laws, William Kallenbach, Algoma, WI, Martin (Janice) Kallenbach, David Kallenbach, Terry (Barbara) Kallenbach all of Medford, WI, Wendy Thompson, Oak Creek, WI, nephews, nieces and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his mother and father-in-law, Gerald and Evelyn Kallenbach, brother-in-law, Robert Thompson, sister-in-law, Debbie Kallenbach.
In Lieu of Flowers donations made be to St. Peters Lutheran Church, Interim Hospice Care or memorials to be designated at a later date.
