Dorothy Virginia Baker, Rothschild, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 27, 2025, at the age of 89. Dorothy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a devoted prayer warrior.
Dorothy was born on September 30, 1935 to James and Elsie (Gall) Weybright in New Paris, Indiana. Dorothy survived Polio at age fourteen and carried a lifelong gratitude for life from the experience. On November 26, 1953, she married Bruce Baker; they were married for 58 years and had three children together.
In 1975, Bruce and Dorothy relocated from Indiana to Stetsonville, WI where they owned and operated a dairy farm with their sons for six years. After dairy farming, they moved to Chippewa Falls where Dorothy got an associate’s degree in accounting and subsequently was employed at Holiday Travel. In 1987 Bruce and Dorothy moved to Rhinelander, WI where Dorothy helped care for her grandchildren, Calah and Andrew. In 1995, Bruce and Dorothy moved to Rothschild, WI, where Dorothy helped shape the lives of her grandchildren, showed her faith through her work with her Church, and was surrounded by those who loved her for 30 years.
Dorothy was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed people and touched many lives through her quiet and loving manner. She was a strong devoted Christian and often shared her faith. Her Love and Faith were an inspiration to others. Dorothy had musical and artistic talent as she learned to play the Dulcimer and enjoyed painting on various media.
Dorothy is survived by three children, Susan (Bruce) Marston of Auburn, Maine, Douglas (Sherry) Baker of Sandia Park, New Mexico, and David (Cheryl) Baker of Kronenwetter; 11 grandchildren, Ed Marston, Dorothy Kinchen, Heather (Chad) Grundemann, Brian (Kelly) Baker, Calah (Rob) Nakai; Andrew (Hazee) Baker, Ashley (John) Menard, Peter Marston ,Tom (Allison) Marston, Isaac Marston , Elsie (Caleb) Johnson, 15 great-grandchildren, Emily, Kaleb and Olivia Kinchen; Amelia, Evelyn, Theodore, Ambrose, and Catherine Menard; Allister and Noella Grundemann; Qiera Campbell; Ezra Baker; Luca Nakai; Sophia Baker; Preston Marston; a sister Julia (Richard) Brookins and a brother, Dr. William (Susie) Weybright both of Goshen, Indiana.
Besides her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bruce, two brothers, Gerald, and Robert Weybright; and three sisters, Joan Sizemore, Opal Rowdabaugh and Evelyn Stouder.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at Bethany Baptist Church, 6601 Alderson St, Schofield. Pastor Joe Carlson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until the time of the service at the church on Friday. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, February 8th, 2025 at Newbold Memorial Cemetery, 6027 Black Lake Road, Rhinelander (McNaughton) Wisconsin. Pastor Kim Swenson will conduct the graveside service.
