Dorothy M. Cline

May 9, 1930 — April 4, 2025

Wausau

Dorothy M. Cline (Boettcher) passed away on April 4, 2025.

Dorothy was born May 9, 1930, in South Milwaukee to Joseph and Rose Marciniak (Wesolowski). Dorothy went to St. Mary's Catholic School in South Milwaukee from first grade to eighth grade. During the school years, she sang in Latin in the church choir. Dorothy would go for the 7 am mass and sing Latin with Sister Andre. Dorothy went to South Milwaukee High School and graduated in 1949. She worked at Dorman Shoe Factory for 80 cents an hour until 1950.

On summer vacation, Dorothy played softball "Under the Lights". For extra money she babysat and worked on a farm for 50 cents an hour pulling weeds. Dorothy always commented after pulling weeds they all rode on the back of the farmers truck, stopped at a bar and got free ice cream cones for all of them. After they had their ice cream, the kids had to sing "You Are My Sunshine" for the farmer.

Dorothy met Raymond Boettcher in 1948 while in her Junior year of school. Raymond worked at Bucyrus-Erie and Dorothy worked at the Dorman Shoe Factory. Dorothy met Ray at the movies and he asked her on a date. They fell in love and married on July 4th, 1949 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in South Milwaukee. The temperature was 104 degrees. After the wedding, Dorothy and Ray drove to Moon, Wisconsin where their family and friends had a reception for them. Dorothy and Ray took over the homestead.

Mom was a city girl but learned how to home make homemade bread, cinnamon rolls, and pies. She made everything the farm workers enjoyed when they went from farm to farm filling silos, thrashing oats, baling hay and also milking cows.

Dorothy and Raymond had 4 children, Cynthia, Jane, Ken and Dale. In 1972 Dorothy and Raymond divorced but always remained friends. After Dorothy and Raymond's divorce, Dorothy worked at Pinewood Supper Club, Bill's Fine Foods, and Midway Motor Lodge.

Dorothy met Glenn Cline in 1984 at a party and found they enjoyed country western music and liked to dance. They started dating and married March 19, 1986. They had a home in Markesan on Little Green Lake . They both loved to fish and enjoyed the outdoors and being on the water. In a few years, they moved back to Wausau but still loved being on the water so they purchased a home up north.

Dorothy enjoyed watching the Brewers, Packers, and going to the casino. She had many friends and everyone enjoyed her company. She was always joking and fun to be around. She could always make you smile. We will miss her very much.

Dorothy and Glenn loved to travel to California and Florida to see their family. They both loved woodworking and remodeling anything they could. Dorothy loved her children immensely. She loved life and enjoyed all of her friends, and family.
