Edith Carpenter-Neu

Edith E. Carpenter-Neu, of Weston, age 85, died Tuesday, December 11, 2018, at Wausau Aspirus Hospice House.

Edith was born on November 2, 1933 in Marshfield, WI, to the late Elmer and Anna (Hillman) Roehrborn.  She was married to Norman Carpenter on October 6, 1956, in Wausau, WI, and he preceded her in death on August 13, 1997.  Edith married Clarence Neu on November 11, 2000, in Wausau, WI, and preceded her in death on May 11, 2017.

Edith loved her family and friends dearly, spending as much time as possible with loved ones near and far.  Whenever possible, she would either take the time to travel to visit them or spend time on the phone to hear the latest family stories.

Since her retirement from the University of Wisconsin, Marathon County campus in 1993, she spent her time perfecting her passion for quilting, traveling, genealogy and volunteering at St. Peters Lutheran Church. She loved working on quilting projects, digging into the latest genealogy information, or simply fishing by a quiet lake.

She is survived by her children, Diane Carpenter, and Dean (Patricia) Carpenter; grandsons, Sean and Ian Carpenter; a special family friend Libertad (Scott) Plamann; one brother, Ervin (Rae) Roehrborn; and sister-in-laws, Jean Roehrborn, and Shirley Roehrborn.  Edith was also preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Noble, three brothers, Daniel, James and Charles Roehrborn, brother-in-law, Elias Noble, and sister-in-law, Jean Roehrborn.

Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1351 Grand Ave, Schofield, WI 54476. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. until time of service, at the church. Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
