Edith Joan Smith, age 87 of Wausau, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13th at Dimensions Living in Stevens Point.

Edith was born to Henry and Anna (Kreuger) Schultz on March 8, 1938 in Mondovi, Wisconsin. She married Paul Smith in November of 1960, and together they raised three children; Kevin, Doug, and Eric.

She worked as a cytotech for Associates Pathology until her retirement in 1995, and was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wausau.

In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling, whether it be to Canada to visit her friends from college, traveling throughout the Midwest, or going on a cruise. While at home Edith could often be found working on her cross stitch or ceramics, baking, or reading.

More than anything, Edith loved her family dearly.

Edith is survived by her husband of 65 years, Paul Smith; sons Kevin Smith, Douglas (Rosemary) Smith, and Eric Smith; and grandchildren Derek (Nicole), Haley, Ryan, Peyton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter-in-law Debi, and sister Dorothy.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 9, 2025 at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of service at the funeral home on Friday.

Memorial donation to the Humane Society of Marathon County are appreciated.
