Elizabeth Carlson, born on March 19, 1939, in Lublin, Poland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 22, 2024, at the age of 85 in Wausau. Author Elizabeth, known for her poignant memoir "Scream Quietly," shared her harrowing experiences during World War II, offering a voice to those who endured similar hardships.
After the war, Elizabeth, alongside her mother and two brothers, fled Communist Poland, seeking refuge in East Germany before reuniting with her father in England. Their journey led them to the United States, where they settled in Illinois. Elizabeth, with an unwavering determination, became a U.S. citizen and pursued higher education in Chicago, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Music Education.
Throughout her life, Elizabeth found solace in the world of art, where she expressed herself through various mediums such as acrylic, oil, and watercolors. Her passion for painting reflected her vibrant spirit and creative soul.
She had an incredible singing voice and had many opportunities to perform in the Chicago area.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Stanley Carlson, daughter, Kim (Marc)Brescia, son Paul (Shari) Carlson, brother Daniel Wierzbowski, grandsons Brad(Monica)Brescia, Bryan(Kristen)Brescia, two other grandsons, and 5 great grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Wanda Wierzbowski, and brother Roman Wierzbowski.
A memorial service to celebrate Elizabeth's life will take place at a later date.
Elizabeth will always be remembered for her Love of the Lord, her ability to love and serve others, her courage, resilience, and the beauty she brought to the world through her art, music and storytelling.
