Ella Traska

Ella 97, of Weston, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Rennes LTC in Weston. Ella was born in Wausau on October 23, 1920 to the late Stephen and Rose Palesch. She married Edward Traska in Wausau on August 25, 1945. After 63 years of marriage, Edward preceded Ella in death on April 24, 2009. Ella worked at Marathon Electric during WW II. She also worked retail sales at Winkelman's, the Fair Store, and was a department manager at Johnson Hills until her retirement in 1977. Ella's passion for flower gardening was evident at their home on E. Wausau Ave. She took great pride in designing and planting her many flower beds. One of her greatest joys was being awarded "Garden of the Month". Ella loved to cook for her family gatherings. Baking was her specialty. She loved trying new recipes and would submit them to the Wausau Herald for publication. She is survived by her daughters, Donna (Jim) Schroeder of Madison and Debbie Bacon of San Antonio, Texas; 2 grandsons, Jon (Tamara) Melone and their children Dominic, Mario, and Giuliette of Cottage Grove and Tony (Rachel) Melone of Janesville; five step grandchildren and nine great -step grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Brainard Funeral Home - Wausau Chapel, 522 Adams Street, Wausau. The Reverend James Schaefer will officiate. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Entombment will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park.
