Eugene Morris (Bud) Brandenburg passed away February 17, 2018 at the age of 93 years. He was born to the late Arthur and Geneva (Dix) Brandenburg on December 1, 1924. He graduated from Wausau High School in 1943 and on July 9, 1943 he joined the United States Army Air Corp as a radio operator, mechanic and gunner of the 432nd Bombardment Squadron, 17th Bombardment Group and later the 37th Bomb Squadron, 17th Bomb Group. He flew 66 missions over the European and Mediterranean theaters. He was honorably discharged on November 1, 1945. On October 20, 1950, he married Elizabeth K. Susor of Wausau. Surviving are sons Bruce Brandenburg, Wausau, Steven (Candace) Brandenburg, Abbotsford, and Scott (Dina) Brandenburg, Kokomo, IN and twin daughters, Karen Brandenburg (Todd Wippermann), Wausau, and Kathleen (Mike) Vanden Boogard, New London, grandsons Matthew Brandenburg, CA, Mitchell & Tyler Vanden Boogard, New London and granddaughter Brooke Kafka (Brandenburg), Stratford. He went to work as a pharmaceutical salesman for the Stanley Drug Company and later worked for Cargill, Inc. He also had his own mink ranch business for many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and most of all spending time at their cottage with friends and family. He is preceded in death by his brother, Clayton Brandenburg, Wausau and his sister Shirley Magnuson, Wausau. The family would like to thank Aspirus Hospice and would also like to especially thank the very wonderful people at Our House Senior Living. A private memorial service will be held by the family.
