Herbert W. King , 89 of Weston, passed away peacefully Friday February 23, 2018 at Aspirus Palliative Care of Wausau. Herbert (Herb) was born on December 9, 1928 in Wausau, son of the late Fred W. and Emma (Knuth) King who were lifelong residents of the Wausau area. Herb and each of his 5 brothers proudly served their country in the United States Military. On February 24, 1958 Herb was united in marriage to Joyce Falk with whom he shared 60 years of life. Herb worked at Lignotech, Rothschild until retirement and CWA Auction Weston until 2017. He also enjoyed working with his son and grandsons at Mitch King and Sons Trucking. He was a founding member of Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church in Weston. Herb enjoyed hunting and tending his farm, as well as caring for wild birds. He is survived by wife Joyce; and children, Carla Burton, Mitch (Gloria), Mike (Deb), Kevin and Chris (Rich) Wilkosz ; Herb has 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren. Along with his parents, Herb was proceeded in death by five brothers, Robert, Raymond, Fred, Charles, and George King; and three sisters, Mildred Dehnel, Helen Schalow and Lucille Neubauer; and grandson Daniel Burton. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 1, 2018 at Redeemer Ev , Lutheran Church, 6404 Old Costa Lane, Weston. Rev. Andrew Franzo will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Brainard Funeral Home - Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston, and again on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Redeemer Ev. Lutheran Church. Brainard Funeral Home - Everest Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be given at www.brainardfuneral.com The family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Aspirus Wausau Hospital who cared for Herb during his life with cancer. We would like to especially thank Dr. Steven Nichols of Aspirus Family Physicians for the steady loving care he has given our entire family through the years. The family also thanks Pastor Franzo for his faithful service and time shared with Herb.
