Irma Neuberger

Irma Bertha Neuberger (Draeger), age 98, passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018.  She is sadly missed.  We will cherish the many years we were blessed with her love.
Irma was born October 1, 1920 to Julius and Katherine Draeger.  Irma was born in Birnamwood, WI.  After high school she stayed to help on the family farm after the loss of her brother Herald.  Eventually she moved to Wausau to work for Employers Mutual Insurance as a secretary.  She met Stephen at this time and they married February 28, 1949 and shared 53 years together.  They were lifelong residents of Wausau.  They raised 8 children and enjoyed traveling and spending time at their cottage on Lake Nokomis.  Family was very important and we all enjoyed many occasions together.  In her later years, she personally enjoyed the mountain scenery of Colorado and Wyoming.
Irma had a knack for gardening and she always had Christmas cactuses blooming.  She enjoyed quilting, needle point and sewing.  She made many outfits for her children when they were young.  She enjoyed baking and holiday desserts were her favorite.  She passed on many wonderful recipies and shared her talents with her children and grandchildren.
Irma is survived by son’s, Gerald (Doreen) Neuberger, George (Lynn) Neuberger; and daughters, Janet Gavinski and Marge (Rick) Mattson.  Her grandchildren include Amy, Megan, Alex, Neil, Steven, Noelle, Georgia, Sarah, Katie, Kelsey, Thomas, Kristine, Teresa, Jessica and Tracy, and sixteen great grandchildren and niece Marilyn Steinbach.
Irma was preceded in death by her husband Stephen, parents Julius and Katherine Draeger, brother Herald Draeger, sister Adeline Steinbach, daughter Mary, and sons Steven, John and Robert.
A visitation will  be held Monday, November 5 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams Street, Wausau and again on Tuesday, November 6 from 9:00 am until the time of service at 10:30 am at Resurrection Catholic Church, 621 N 2nd Street, Wausau. Burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park.
