Jacqueline Alice Von Kanel (Whitney), 87 of Wausau passed away at her home, surrounded by her loving family on August 13, 2017. Jacqueline was born in Radisson, Wisconsin on June 30, 1930 to Alice and Bernard Whitney. She attended Winter High School, where she graduated as the valedictorian for her class. Jacqueline married Michael Lucko, and together they had three children, Michael, Lori, and Lisa. Her husband, Michael passed away on April 21, 1963. Jacqueline married Charles Von Kanel on December 8, 1973. She worked at People's State Bank, where she retired after over 18 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, baking, reading, puzzles, keeping lifelong friendships, and spending time with her family. Jacqueline was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where for years she worked alongside other volunteers to write the church paper, "Trinity Connections". Jacqueline is survived by her husband, Charles Von Kanel; her three children, Michael Lucko (Julie), Lori Luedtke (Steve), and Lisa Doran (Dermott); her four grandchildren, Jessica (Andrew) (nee Plachetka) Gabrielski, Jonah Plachetka (Sarah), Shamus Doran (Cassi), and Peter Doran (Jordan); and her 4 great-grandchildren - Grant and Greyson Gabrielski, Nolan Doran, and Killian Plachetka. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Alice and Bernard Whitney; her brother, Leland Whitney; and two sisters, Phyllis Malecha and Linda Johnson. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 501 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, WI. Visitation will take place from 9:00 am until the time of services at the church. Burial will take place at Restlawn Memorial Park.
