Jean H. Rein

Jean H. Rein, age 92, of Wausau, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Our House Senior Living in Wausau under the care of St. Croix Hospice.

Jean was born on September 29, 1932 in Wausau to the late Herman and Helen (Rienow) Preuss. A graduate of Wausau High School, Class of 1950, Jean worked for 32 years as a dedicated typesetter at the Wausau Daily Herald until her retirement in 1992.

A lifetime member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Jean was deeply devoted to her faith and community, volunteering actively within the church and at Marywood Convalescent Center.

Jean cherished her family and found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid traveler, an enthusiastic golfer, and a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Jean also enjoyed reading, cooking, and baking, bringing warmth and love to all who knew her.

Jean is survived by her daughter Cindy (Terry) Balz of Marathon; her sister Nancy Junkerman of Wausau; her grandsons Adam Balz of Tomah and Matthew Balz of Milwaukee; her daughter-in-law Marie Rein of Merrill; and many beloved nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Thomas Rein, her brother Robert Preuss, and brother-in-law Charles Junkerman.

In honor of Jean's wishes, private funeral services will be held at Brainard Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Ewan officiating.
