Joyce Steinagel

Joyce Elaine (Burkart) Marschall Steinagel of Wausau, passed away on May 9, 2018. Joyce was born on February 16, 1923 to the late Chester and Frances (Darling) Burkart. She graduated from Wausau Senior High in 1941. Joyce was married on August 12, 1943 to Orville Marschall who preceded her in death on March 23, 1976. Joyce later married Harold Steinagel on March 12, 1983 who preceded her in death on April 29, 2016. Joyce retired as Welfare Director and Health Officer after 14 years for the Town of Rib Mountain in 1962. She later worked at Wausau Insurance Company and retired again in 1982. She loved singing in Holy Name Catholic Church's choir, in Wausau Insurance's choir and St Mark's Lutheran choir. Joyce was active in the Rib Mountain Golf League, and was a past president of VFW Auxiliary of Burns Post 388 of Wausau. Through the years she enjoyed golfing, bowling, dancing, fishing, knitting, embroidery and card playing. Joyce loved her time spent in Arizona every winter, and her time at the cottage in the summer with her children and grand-children. Joyce is survived by her children, Thomas (Corri) Marschall Sr., Kathleen J. Schoepke, Sandra (Joseph) Crean; 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; step children, Whitey (Pam) Steinagel, Fred (Marilyn) Steinagel, Char (Joe) Windorski, Mike (Joan) Steinagel; 13 step grandchildren; 14 step great grandchildren; and 1 step great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judy Ninabuck-Gothann; brother in law, Dale Marschall; step daughter, Lanette Steinagel; and step grandson, Cody Sliwicki. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 11:00 am at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, 600 Stevens Dr, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service. Rev. Bruce Lamont will officiate. The family would like to thank Aspirus Palliative Care for their care and compassion.
