Karen "Cookie" Brittenham, age 58, passed away after a 2 year battle with ALS on August 20, 2024.
Cookie was born in Blue Island, IL to Gilbert and Arlene (Lund) Klotz. Cookie moved to Antigo, WI in middle school and completed her schooling in Antigo. Cookie married her high school sweetheart, Dave Brittenham on 07/07/1984 in Antigo, WI. The couple moved to Wausau, WI in 1986 where they raised their two daughters, Valerie and Tricia.
Cookie was a self-employed daycare provider where she had a positive impact on many lives. She loved the children she cared for and truly enjoyed her vocation. In 1996, Cookie and Dave purchased a cottage in Post Lake, WI. Many weekends, summers, and vacations were spent playing at the lake, this was Cookie’s favorite place.
Cookie enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and most importantly spending time with her family. She loved her life with her best friend, Dave and their girls. She so loved her grandchildren who provided a great joy to her. Her wit and humor lit up every room.
Cookie enjoyed playing games with her family. Every Mother’s Day, Cookie and her daughters did their own version of ‘Chopped’. Weekends were filled with boating, snowmobiling, UTVing, and campfires.
She was preceded in death by Gilbert Klotz (Father), Arlene Klotz (Mother). Cookie is survived by her husband Dave Brittenham, daughters Valerie (Tanner) Young, Tricia (Noah) Villarreal, grandchildren Madelyn, Charlie, Henry, Brandon, and Colton. Sisters Jane (John) Gephart and Sue (Mick) McMullen. The list of additional family members Cookie is survived by is too long to name everyone.

Visitation will be held Saturday, 24th of August, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Brainard Funeral Home- Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Ct. Weston, WI 54476.
Services for Cookie Brittenham will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Brainard Funeral Home- Everest Chapel with Pastor Jim Hartlaben officiating.
