Lois Ann “Masallo” Schoenfeldt, age 71, of Bevent entered eternal rest on August 27, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends at Aspirus Palliative Care Wausau where she received amazing comfort and care. Visitation will be Saturday September 14, 2024, from 1:00 – 2:00pm at Brainard Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston, WI 54476. Memorial Service from 2:00 – 3:00 and Memorial Gathering from 3:00 – 5:00 will follow at the same location.
Lois was born in New York (Borough…Richmond), NY on July 8, 1953, to Frederick and Lois Ann “Dougher” Masallo. Being a military dependent she resided in many destinations. At three years old, she took a trip with her mother on the Queen Mary across the Atlantic Ocean to England for an assignment to Wiesbaden Germany. Further assignments took her to Bangor ME, San Francisco CA, Kaiserslautern Germany, Sunnyvale CA (where her father was stationed at Vandenburg AFB and her future husband’s uncle was the base commander), Haverhill England, and Vogelweh Germany. Lois graduated from Kaiserslautern High School in June of 1971. In August of that year a love story that would last 51 years was begun. They met at the Sembach AFB NCO club and never stopped dancing. On May 4, 1973, she and Fred were married by the German Burgermeister. On May 5, 1973, the wedding was held at the Sembach AFB chapel.
Lois liked to sew, knit and crochet. She also loved canning in the fall and playing cribbage. She was always there to help. As an LPN and a caregiver, her skills assisted many individuals. Lois was loving, caring, giving and romantic. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. She was so proud of her family and only wanted the best for them. Her sweet and ever-present smile had the passion and kindness to balance her husband. Her touch and voice generated calm and assurance. The evidence is the deep sorrow and pain in our hearts that her family feels from her passing. “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal” Lois packed a lot of love and life into her 71 years.
Lois is survived by her husband, Fred Schoenfeldt; son Brent Schoenfeldt; daughter-in-law Kathryn “Lyon” Schoenfeldt; two granddaughters that she adored Stella and Nora Schoenfeldt; sister Elisa (Richard) “Masallo” Prost; brother Steven Masallo; brother-in-law Todd Schoenfeldt; sister-in-law Jean (Mark) “Schoenfeldt” Hoskin; two dogs Bella and Vesper and her cat Sammie. She was preceded in death by her parents Frederick and Lois Ann Masallo.
