Lorraine Ferguson

November 14, 1932 — October 7, 2024

Lorraine was born and raised in Rhinelander, WI. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. She graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1950. She served in the U.S. Army from November 1950 – December 1952. Lorraine had a 30-year career working for the U.S. Federal Government in Washington, DC, Maryland, & Virginia.

Lorraine married Donald C. Ferguson in 1952. They divorced in 1967. In between, they had two children, Donna, and Wilson. 1971 she married Raymond T. Jonus. They were divorced in 1975.

Lorraine’s impeccable hand embroidery skills began at the early age of five when her mother taught her how. Lorraine’s passion for textile art expanded to needlepoint, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She has created countless pieces for herself, family, friends, and non-profit organizations.

Her years of retirement were filled with needlework, attending performing arts theaters, bridge games, puzzles, and traveling. Of course, all of these activities included her tight circle of friends – Jean & Rodney, Iris, Joann, her daughter Donna, to name just a few, and her dog, Lucky.

In 2002, she decided to move back to Wisconsin to be closer to family. During these last 22 years in Wausau, WI, she developed a new set of Bridge friends, enjoyed performances at the Grand Theater, spent time with her children, her brother and sister-in-law, and watched her role as Aunt expand to Grand-aunt and Great-grand-aunt.

Lorraine entered the doors to Heaven, Monday, October 7, 2024. A special thank you to Bart Isaacson, MD and Pride TLC Assisted Living staff for your tender caregiving and loving her as if she were your own.
