Mary Ann Kunz

Mary Ann Kunz, age 84, of Weston, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on February 9, 2024. She was born on October 6, 1939, to Edmund and Carol (Brazelton) Crowe and grew up in Antigo, Wisconsin, the third of five siblings.

Mary married the love of her life, Walter 'Wally' Kunz, on September 28, 1957. They enjoyed 53 years of marriage and raised their five children in Weston, Wisconsin. They loved to camp and travel, and were shining examples of caring for neighbors and those less fortunate, love of learning, and a willingness to work hard.

Faith, family and friends were central to Mary's life. She was a longtime and active member of St. Mary's Oratory in Wausau and volunteered in many capacities over the years. Her welcoming smile, sparkling eyes, sense of humor and generous spirit will be greatly missed but will live on in the memories of all who knew her.

Survivors include her five children, Kathy Johnson, Patti (Jeff) Blair, Susan (Clark) Reetz, Cindy Sibley, and Tim Kunz, along with three of her siblings Bob Crowe, Pat (Pete) Helmbrecht, and Tom (Kristine) Crowe, and her brother-in-law Dave Kunz. 

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, brother Edmund 'Larry' Crowe, sister-in-law Nancy Crowe, son-in-law Jim Sibley, and sister-in-law Ruth Conone. 

Funeral will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the St. Mary's Oratory, 325 Grand Avenue, Wausau Wisconsin.

Special thanks to her long-time friend, Cora Skidmore, all the Marshfield Clinic medical providers and Compassus Hospice staff who provided care for Mary during her battle with melanoma, and to all her family, friends and neighbors who provided limitless support and kindness.
