It is with warm hearts and fond memories that we announce the passing of Mary Beth Sowinski, who left us peacefully surrounded by her family on March 1, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born on April 23, 1951, to the late Robert and Marjorie Schulz, she spent her youngest years in the Wittenberg area before moving to Schofield. Mary Beth graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 1969 – “The Class with Class!”
On July 8th, 1972, Mary Beth began her greatest love story when she married Roger Sowinski. Together they raised four kids. Measuring a spirited 5' 1/2", Mary was a force of nature. She was stubborn in the best way, always standing her ground. As a CNA Coordinator at Kennedy Park, she touched the lives of many, bringing comfort and compassion to those in need. Mary dedicated her life to nurturing the souls around her.
Mary Beth was not just a mother and grandmother; she was also a vibrant friend who cherished time spent with others. Whether she was gardening or golfing or having a little “deck therapy”, she brought joy and fun wherever she went. She swelled with pride over her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They truly were her pride and joy.
Mary is survived by her children, Mike (Laura) Sowinski of Waunakee, Laurie Sowinski (Bruce) of Kronenwetter, Shane (Julie) Sowinski of Tomahawk, and Calla Sowinski of Wausau; 8 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; brothers, Steve (Pat) Schulz, Stan (Jill) Schulz, Skip (Sandy) Schulz; brother-in-law, Bob Koplitz; and dear friend Debby Hall. She is further survived by her loving in-laws and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She is joined in heaven by her husband, Roger Sowinski; parents, Robert and Marjorie Schulz; mother and father-in-law, Leona and Chester Sowinski; sister, Marcy Koplitz; infant brother Scott; her first great, great granddaughter, Zaylah Joyce Marie, and her dog, Doofus.
We invite all who knew Mary to join us in celebration of her incredible life. A memorial service will be held, Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 3:00 pm at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 503 Schmidt Avenue, Rothschild. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until the time of service at the church. We encourage you to bring your stories and smiles, just as Mary would have wished.
We want to thank the staff at Marshfield Medical Center- Weston for their superior care, and her friends, Linda and Stacie and the rest of her friends at her apartment for their friendship and care. And to the staff at her apartment complex for always looking out for her- we thank you.
