Paula Goetsch

May 3, 1968 — January 1, 2018

Paula L. Goetsch, 49 of Schofield, entered into the arms of her Savior on January 1, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born on May 3, 1968 to Kenneth and Sandra (Kareka) Gilray in Wausau. She married Steven Goetsch on September 14, 1991 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, Wausau. Steve and Paula were the proud parents of two sons, Forrest and Bradley "Bubba" Goetsch. Paula will be deeply missed, and is survived by, her husband Steven, son Bradley (Bubba), mother Sandra Gilray, Rib Mountain; Mother-in-law Sharon Goetsch, Wausau; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and families: Holly and John Jorgensen, Weston; Perry and Cheryl Goetsch (Logan, Branden and Emily), Kronenwetter; Allen Goetsch and Derek Williams, San Francisco, CA; Stuart and Kelly Goetsch (Kiana Koch, Kasey and Tyler Vande Voort); Karen Gilray (Emily and Michael), and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her son, Forrest Tyler Goetsch, her brother, Todd Edward Gilray, her father, Kenneth E. Gilray, and her father-in-law, Warren Goetsch. Paula cherished her time with family and friends as she knew how precious the gift of life is. She and Steven spent many proud afternoons and evenings cheering on Bradley as he played in football games for the D.C. Everest Evergreens and then the Eau Claire Blugolds. A favorite pastime of hers was watching the Hallmark Channel and the Food Network. Paula was a very giving person, known to those close to her as the best gift giver, always able to select just the perfect gift for each individual. A great accomplishment of Steven, Paula and Bradley was the ability to celebrate the life of their son and brother, Forrest, through the development of Forrest Goetsch Charities. They devoted much of their time over the last eight years establishing the Forrest Goetsch Memorial Run. One of the greatest rewards to Paula was witnessing the positive impact their efforts were able to provide to our community. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson St., Weston, WI 54476. Pastor Lance Hoelscher and Pastor Jordan Balk will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5 and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Forrest Goetsch Charities, c/o River Valley Bank; 327 N. 17th Ave., Wausau, WI 54401 Brainard Funeral Home- Everest Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
