Roger Allen Ormond, 67 of Wausau, Wisconsin passed away on March 20, 2025 at Wausau Manor, surrounded by family, following a battle with cancer.
Roger was born on May 18, 1957 in Neillsville, WI to the late Wayne Eugene and Christine Thereta (Wiater) Ormond. While Roger faced lifelong challenges due to injury in early childhood, he lived a vibrant life and was known and loved by many.
Roger began his decades long career as a caretaker and janitor for Zion Lutheran Church of Wausau while attending East High. Following graduation in 1979, Roger found many additional ways to serve others in his community.
Always on the move, Roger could be seen biking to one of his many jobs. He took his role of Santa Claus seriously and for years would fill in for the big man for local families. Roger was ready with a joke or story and had a flair for Hawaiian shirts or some cowboy boots, hat and bolo tie. He loved listening to Elvis and in recent years he enjoyed the friendships and activities at Adaptive Communities.
Roger was preceded in death by both of his parents. Survivors include his only sister Carol (Karl) Burgess of Wausau, nieces Christina (Eric) Conn of Appleton, Pam (Brad Bandera) Burgess of Minneapolis, Laura (Doug) Baxter of Wausau, Korrin (Brandon) Black of Wausau, and nephew James (Andrea) Burgess of Wausau, along with eight great nieces/nephews.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 N. 6th St., Wausau. Visitation will take place from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to Adaptive Communities or a charity of choice that serves those with special needs in memory of Roger.
