Ronald Wood

December 11, 1956 — October 28, 2017

Ronald James Wood, age 60, entered his eternal life at his home on October 28, 2017 after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. He was a loving husband and father, an avid Nordic skier, traditional bow hunter, bicyclist and loved to camp. Ron was born to Patricia and Bill Wood on December 11, 1956 in Houghton, MI. He graduated from Rhinelander High School (1975) and Nicolet Tech (1976). He married Jolie Ehlers on July 13, 1985. Ron was a draftsman designer at Siemens (formerly Zimpro) for 37 years where he made lifelong friendships with colleagues. Ron was a member of Rib Mountain Bowmen and loved to listen to and share stories with all the exceptional people of the club. He also was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church and served faithfully as an usher for many years. Ron loved cross country skiing and was a passionate member of the Wausau Nordic Skiers where he volunteered and dedicated his time to a cause he loved. He was also proud to have completed the legendary American Birkebeiner ski race 25 times! Ron was a kind and generous soul who put the needs of others before himself. He has given away a large number of items from his extensive collection of bows, skis and bicycles. He is survived by his wife, Jolie; sons Andrew (Katie) and Kevin (Katelyn); brothers Jim (Jean), Tim, Tom (Bobbi) and parents Bill and Patricia. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 11:00 am at Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 6205 Alderson Street, Weston. Rev. Raymond Connor will officiate. Visitation will be held at Brainard Funeral Home - Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm and again on Thursday, November 2 from 9:30 am until the time of services at the church. The family would like to thank the doctor and nurses at the Aspirus Cancer Center and the Hospice Care team.
