Gottschalk, Sandra M., peacefully passed away at home on March 1, 2025.
Sandy was the oldest child of Alfred and Gladys (Seehafer) Duranceau, born on April 8, 1941. She graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 1959.
In 1963, she married Allen E. Gottschalk in Wausau and they moved to South Dakota while he served in the Air Force. After service, they returned to Wisconsin for a number of years and began their family before moving to Michigan in 1976. She worked in accounts receivable at State Wire and Terminal for thirty years before retiring in 2018 and returning to Wausau to be near her extended family.
Sandy was a lifelong active member of the United Church of Christ. She was a talented baker and cake decorator. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, and all types of crafting. Most of all, Sandy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She took great joy in getting to know the younger generation and was always up for winning a game of cards.
She will be dearly missed by those she left behind: her daughters Malinda and Andrea Gottschalk; son Wade Gottschalk; three grandchildren Kelsey, Joey, and Amy; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her four sisters Jean (Terry) Back, Lou (Lee) Jazdzewski, LaVerne Joslin, and Christine Duranceau; two sisters-in-law Diane Dillman and Sharon Albrecht; and many, many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter Annette, and brother Lyle Duranceau.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, March 7 at Peace United Church of Christ, Schofield. Visitation will be from 9-11am; service will be officiated by Pastor Barber at 11am, with a luncheon to follow. Thank you to all those who cared for her these last few months.
