Sylvester Landowski

August 9, 1936 — August 13, 2017

Sylvester A. Landowski, 81, of Ringle, passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 13, 2017, at Tender Reflections under the care of Ministry Hospice Care. Syl was born at his home in Ringle on August 9, 1936, to the late John and Mary (Glodowski) Landowski. He married Shirley Dudzik on August 8, 1959. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. Sylvester (Sy) was a hard-working man, running the family farm while working for Weyerhaeuser for 33 years. He was fond of traveling with Shirley, making it around the continental United States in their pop-up truck camper. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing year-round whenever he wasn't working. He loved traveling to Canada for special fishing trips and playing sheepshead with his siblings and their spouses. He was a faithful man, always making time for mass and daily prayers - even on camping trips. Syl especially enjoyed a good cook-out and relaxing with a good, cold beer surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley; daughter Gloria (Dana) Degner of Weston and their children, Brittany of Clarksville, TN and Emily (Brandon) of Marshfield, WI; son Timothy (Wendy) Landowski of Birnamwood and their children, Elaina, Alexa, Jaydon, and Jordan, and Danalee Alix-Lemmer of Knowlton; siblings Dennis Landowski of Milwaukee; Kleofash (Joanne) Landowski of Antigo; adopted sister Marie Breitenstein; sister-in-law, Johanna Landowski, and brother-in-law, Ernest Dallman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Edward, Joseph and Ludwig Landowski and sisters: Wanda, Frances, Leona, Agnes, Isabelle, Elizabeth and Natalie. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 6101 Zinser Street, Weston, WI. The Rev. Greg Bohren will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. Burial will follow at the St. Agnes Parish Cemetery. Brainard Funeral Home and Cremation Center - Everest Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.brainardfuneral.com.
