Thomas Kleinschmidt

December 8, 1968 — February 12, 2019

Thomas M. Kleinschmidt, 50, of Weston, entered into eternal rest on February 12, 2019 with his loving family by his side after a long and courageous battle with Melanoma.

Tom was born December 8, 1968 in Merrill to the late Milton and Vernette (Langhoff) Kleinschmidt and was the second youngest of 14 children. On August 11, 1990 he married Laurie Cleveland in Merrill.

Tom worked as a landscaper in high school which led him to pursue his dream of owning his own landscaping business, Kleinschmidt Landscaping, which kept him busy from spring to fall.  Tom worked for Automatan in Plover, WI for the past 13 years where he worked his way to a Service Manager position. While traveling around the world for work, Tom earned the respect and trust of many customers and made many lifelong friends.

Tom had a great sense of humor and was always joking around and making others laugh. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and enjoyed going to games with his friend Dan once a year for his birthday. In his downtime, Tom enjoyed watching sports, working on wood projects around his home, cooking, landscaping, smoking cigars, going on family vacations, and spending time with his grandsons.

Tom is survived by his wife Laurie; daughters Keli (Dusty) Kleinschmidt, Ashley (Harley) Schultz; grandsons, Gavin, Broderick, Malik; siblings, Kathie Baumann, Virgil (Sherry) Kleinschmidt, Bonnie Thurs, Dean (Peggy) Kleinschmidt, Gay (Roger) Mootz, Lois (Lee) Schmidt, Becky Kleinschmidt, Jon (Becky) Kleinschmidt, Lynda (Mike) Kropp, Wanda Kleinschmidt, Brian Kleinschmidt; and many nieces and nephews.  Tom was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Vernette Kleinschmidt; brothers Daniel “Boone” Kleinschmidt, and Joel Kleinschmidt; mother-in-law Marie Cleveland; father-in-law Russell Cleveland; brothers-in-law Jeffrey Baumann, Richard Thurs, John Cleveland, and Patrick Cleveland.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, February 19 from 4pm-7pm at Brainard Funeral Home, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston and again on Wednesday, February 20 from 10am until the time of service at 11am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 6404 Old Costa Lane, Schofield. Rev. Andrew Franzo will officiate. Burial at Restlawn Memorial Park will follow.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his Oncology team, especially Dr. Moid, Brynn, and Christina, and the staff at North Central Health Care South Shore Rehab for their continued care and support.
