Thomas W. Nienow

Tom passed away on February 18, 2025 and was born on May 22, 1933 in Brokaw, WI to Harry and Elnora Nienow. He had one brother, Harry and 7 sisters, Delores, Marion, Patricia, Joan, Darlene, Virginia and Carol. He married Marjorie on March 7, 1953. He is survived by his wife of 72 years Marjorie, their daughter Linda (Shamron) Schlicht and son Thomas Sr. (Kristine) Nienow. Grandchildren, Felicia Schlicht, Thomas Nienow Jr. Flynnton Schlicht and Heather (Josh) Habeck and great-grandchildren, Michael, Novia and Marcellus. 

Tom was proud to have served in the Army in Korea from 1953 to 1955. He served in the Honor Guard for General McArthur and visiting celebrities. When he returned from the war, he returned to Wausau Papers where he worked for 44 years before retiring to putter in his garden or socialize with the gang at the local watering holes. He recommended 2 beers a day with his friends for a long and happy life. He was a huge Packer and Brewer fan and had season tickets for the packers. He later enjoyed watching the games at Burks with the gang.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Zion Lutheran Church, 709 N. 6th St, Wausau.  The Rev. Steven Gjerde will officiate.  Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Saturday.
