Bill, age 83, died suddenly, but peacefully at home on Sunday, August 25, 2024. He was born to William and Marge Jones in Racine, Wisconsin. His family moved his senior year of high school to Wausau where he ended up meeting the love of his life, Barb. Barb and Bill began their 63-year life adventure together.
Bill spent most of his career with WSAU Channel 7 before venturing out on a partnership founding Golden Icon Productions.
Bill had a zest for life, he loved any kind of travel near or far, Quetico canoe trips, camping-not giving up the tent until 82 years old; especially the annual friends/family 4th of July Clear Lake campout since the 1960’s, anything that included his kids, grandkids or friends. Walks at Monk Gardens, concerts on the square, many years skiing at Rib Mountain, short day trips for picnics, eating great food, duck hunting, fishing Clear Lake for Walleye, writing handwritten letters to his wife, girls and grandkids regularly.
Throughout the years, he was truly devoted to the community, and he was actively involved in Wausau Noon Optimist, Boy Scout Leader, Wisconsin Valley Fair Board, Wausau Elks Lodge #248, First Presbyterian Elder/Deacon, serving multiple food pantries and advocating for the homeless.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Barb; daughters Kelly (Scott) Pospychala of Wausau and Sarah (Pat) Moucha of Kronenwetter; grandchildren Zach Jones of Weston, Andrew Pospychala of Milwaukee, Abbie (Paul) Van Grinsven of DePere, Tony (Deandra Banie) Moucha of Ketchikan, Alaska, and Adam (Kenzie Conrad) Moucha of Kronenwetter and great granddaughter, Kinsley. Bill is also survived by his cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, along with so many special friends that he considered family. He is now reunited with his beloved son, Jeff (2001).
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 3 at First Presbyterian Church, 406 Grant Street, Wausau, at 11:30 am with a visitation from 9-11:15 am. Brainard Funeral Home is assisting Bill's family.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Bill’s name.
We want to thank everyone who has provided immeasurable support to our family throughout all the years, especially the past week.
